TAMILNADU DRIVING SCHOOL OWNERS FEDERATION (TNDSOF)

TAMIL NADU DRIVING SCHOOL OWNERS FEDERATION (TNDSOF) is the apex body in the State consisting of driving school owners associations in the districts of Tamil Nadu. It is the union of district level associations in the State. TNDSOF is affiliated to THE ALL INDIA FEDERATION OF DRIVING SCHOOL OWNERS ASSOCIATIONS. The main aim of TNDSOF is to bring unity among the members and to protect their rights & interests in the field of MOTORING business. TNDSOF is committed to enhance the unity & elevate the quality of driver training methodology among its members.

TNDSOF was formed in the year 2006 by LION K JAMES JAYASEELAN, the Founder Secretary & State Secretary till 2017. Mr. Shanmugham & Mr. S. Velusamy were the Past Presidents of the Federation, alongside Mr. R. Karunakaran as their State Treasurer. A big team of driving school owners along with these leaders were instrumental in organising and forming the Federation. The unity of the driving school owners in the State dates back to 1972, when an Association in the name of TAMIL NADU DRIVING OWNERS ASSOCIATION was formed and functioned till the 1990s.

Presently, the Federation is under the leadership of MR. MURALIDARAN as the STATE PRESIDENT, Mr.R KUMAR as the STATE SECRETARY and LION B. RAMKUMAR as the STATE TREASURER and MR. K SELVARAJU alias ERODE RAJA as the SENIOR VICE PRESIDENT along with a Core Committee consisting of Vice Presidents and Deputy Secretaries of the State. There are 12 Zonal Incharges and 36 District Incharges.

TNDSOF has a history of safeguarding its members from many of the impugned circulars and rules passed by the state government namely the transport department. In the year 2014, the Central Government tried to amend the Central Motor Vehicle Act and the rules in the name of a ‘road safety bill’ which would have washed away the entire trade of the motor driving schools in the nation. This situation brought about agony and agitation among the owners of the driving schools. Our Federation fought to protect the welfare of the driving schools in the State by representing them at a Parliament committee meeting. The State Leaders appeared in front of the Parliament committee and presented their views regarding the proposed bill and current state of the driving schools. The outcome was the Parliament Committee accepted and recorded in a report that ‘existing driving schools shall not be disturbed’, a true victory for our community.

The goal of the federation is to achieve “road safety with a motto of zero incident 2030” and make every driving instructor in the country a “road safety ambassador”. It also hopes to create uniform training programs throughout the nation with a view of creating worthy drivers across the nation.
